You can mix and match your blank clothing using colors to make an outfit that&#8217;s fabulous and interesting. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">You don&#8217;t need patterns to make an outfit interesting, but you also can&#8217;t just throw any colorful clothing together.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The Color Wheel<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Before we start mixing and matching colors we need to know how to use the color wheel. The color wheel is a visual aid to see how colors mix together. All art students utilize and learn about the color wheel when mixing paints and deciding on colors for pieces.<\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blankstyle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/colorwheel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-408 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blankstyle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/colorwheel.jpg\" alt=\"colorwheel\" width=\"225\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The color wheel starts as a triangle, always starting with the three primary colors. Depending on the color system used the primary colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow or more commonly red, yellow and blue. Then in between two primary colors is the color that is created when those colors are mixed, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">or the secondary color<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">. For example, on the circle between red and yellow, it would be orange. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">You then continue to mix and fill in the colors until you have a circle with all of the color variations created from the original three.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Color Terminology <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Here are some terms that you can use when looking at the color wheel and putting outfits together <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">with your colorful clothing<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">. These apply to art and design as well.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Complementary Colors \u2013 complementary colors are a pair of colors that are the exact opposites of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">each other.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> These colors create the strongest contrast next to each <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">oth<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">er than with any other color. A trick for finding a colors primary on the color wheel for the 6 basic colors, the complement of a primary color is the combination of the other two. For example, the opposite of yellow is the combination of blue and red, which is purple.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Analogous<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> Colors \u2013 these are pairs of colors that are close to each other on the color <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blankstyle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ColorfulT-shirt.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1452\" src=\"https:\/\/www.blankstyle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ColorfulT-shirt-209x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"209\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.blankstyle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ColorfulT-shirt-209x300.jpg 209w, https:\/\/www.blankstyle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ColorfulT-shirt.jpg 397w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 209px) 100vw, 209px\" \/><\/a>wheel. For example, blue and green are supplementary, as are green and yellow.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Value \u2013 The value of a color is how light or dark it is, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">or w<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">hen colors start to be mixed with black or white. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The best place to see differences in value is black and white photographs <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Fun With Colors<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman,serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Start using the terms and ideas above to start mixing and matching <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">you<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">r<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> colorful t shirts and other clothing into <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">fun and interesting outfits. Pair up a bright orange bag with an blue item of clothing.
