Since its establishment the company has gone through so many administrative changes. These changes started in 1968 when Bauer retired and sold the company to General Mills. Mills was in charge of the company from 1971 to 1988 before he also sold it to Spiegel. Spiegel went bankrupt in 2003, and the Spiegel catalog alongside every other asset was auctioned, for sale except for Eddie Bauer. Shortly afterward, in May 2005, Spiegel INC rose from being bankrupt as an independent firm under the name ‘Eddie Bauer Holdings”. However, on The 17th of June, 2009, Eddie Bauer was purchased by Golden State Capital after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware.

Eddie Bauer clothing currently operates three unique sales channels which are;

• Retail Stores-Which handles the sale of premium merchandise

• Outlet Stores-Oversees the sale of merchandise and inventory overstocks at lower prices

• Direct Order Center-Sells merchandise through call centers in Groveport, Ohio, and via the company’s website.

Aside from its three sales channels, the company operates a distribution and fulfillment center in Groveport, Ohio, and a second distribution center in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, and an IT facility in Westmont Illinois. The company also has vested interests in joint venture operations which include catalogs, retail stores, and websites in Japan and Germany.
